Tom’s Cutting Edge Welcomes a New Owner!
After many years of providing top-quality sharpening services, Tom Downs has made the difficult decision to step back due to health reasons. In doing so, he has carefully chosen Alan Putnam to take over the business, ensuring the same level of precision, service, pricing, process and professionalism that customers have come to trust.
Alan has been personally trained by Tom on his equipment and sharpening techniques, making for a seamless transition. Tom will continue to work with Alan and attend the farmer’s market beginning in May.
The only change customers will notice is the addition of new drop-off locations in Lake Wylie and Rock Hill. Of course, we will have a Fort Mill location set up shortly for our Fort Mill area clients.

What an experience! From the first text to picking up 5 knives SAME DAY is just amazing. Tom is a fantastic individual with an amazing set of skills. Chefs knives were returned with a new sleeve and tip guard. Everything has a mirror finish. I couldn’t recommend a service more for new or old knife collectors. Fast, convenient, reasonably priced knife sharpening! I was a little worried about trusting someone to sharpen expensive EDC knives. Had a bad experience in the past with a shop that used a grinder to put a less than acceptable edge on one of them. Tom was fantastic to deal with and knows knives. He did a spectacular job of restoring a razors edge to my pocket partners. He was able to hone my wife’s favorite cooking knife and an old machete as well.
